Since 1896, Epworth Children’s Home has been a place for children to grow, learn, and be loved. Children ages 12 and up come to them from severely stressed family systems and their goal is to nurture and love them by providing education, counseling, medical care, and spiritual enrichment. Their aim is to break the destructive cycle of abuse, neglect, and shame and replace it with an opportunity for each child to live a life of self-respect, responsibility, and productivity. Support for the children who call Epworth home comes in all shapes and sizes. It includes financial and gift-in-kind donations, volunteering, sharing the Epworth story, advocating, and remembering the children in your will or estate planning. FoodShare SC has one major mission: feeding a need in our community. Their goal is to enhance quality of life by creating access to fresh affordable food, quality cooking, and skills education. Their work revolves around three tenets: community empowerment and engagement, increased financial opportunity, and physical revitalization. These tenets will be evident among FoodShare’s core programs: the Fresh Food Box and Culinary Medicine cooking classes. There are many ways to get involved with FoodShare by giving of your time, energy, and talents. Helping pack boxes, delivering food boxes to those without transportation, and coordinating ordering and pick-up sites all help them grow the program to meet the needs of our community. Do Some Good for others in the Emmaus community! Reach out to someone you've just gotten connected with and offer coffee or lunch. Get involved with a meal train or a need that has been posted in the Emmaus Community Facebook page. Send someone a care package or help parents with young kids get time for a date night. Get creative and do something meaningful for someone in our church family this week. You won't regret it!
