Community Opportunities
LGBTQ+ serving organizations from around the state are hosting a virtual town hall on Wednesday, January 29th at 6pm. This event has a statewide focus, bringing together voices from across South Carolina to discuss pressing questions, share concerns, and explore ways to navigate these uncertain times. Registration is required. Please do so here: https://bit.ly/40BqFHR.
-On February 9th, we will be celebrating "Soup"-er Bowl Sunday in Emmaus Kids. On 2/9, bring in canned soups and place them in the container for the team you hope will win! Will it be the Eagles or the Chiefs? Emmaus Kids will be donating all of the collected canned soups to Sharing God's Love in Irmo. This is a great way for the entire Emmaus community to have fun while helping those in need. If you have questions, please email kara@emmauschurchsc.com.
-@homelessnomoresc is hosting their annual Race for the Place 5k on Saturday, February 22nd at 8:00am! The starting line is at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Devine Street and the course runs through the Shandon neighborhood. Money raised will go towards the programming for families in need. Volunteers are needed to set up tables, pass out water, help with the food and coffee stations, cheer on the 5k runners, direct the Fun Run, and clean up at the end of the event. Time slots range from 6:30am to 10:30am. If you choose to sign up, instructions will be emailed to you a week before the race. Please sign to help here: https://bit.ly/42pccRQ!
